According to the annual rankings compiled by ItaliaOggi and La Sapienza University of Rome, this year, once again, Trento is the city with the highest quality of life in Italy. This recognition was already achieved in 2019, while in the last two years the Trentino capital ranked second.
In 2022, Trento regained its primacy, ranking first in 8 of the 9 areas considered. It is the first case ever in the life of the report. The cities were assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
- business and work
- environment
- education and training
- population
- crime and safety
- income and wealth
- health system
- social security
- leisure and tourism
Italy emerged from the 24th edition of the report as a country that was finally leaving the Covid-19 pandemic behind, although it remains deeply divided between North and South. After Trento, the best cities to live in are Bolzano, Bologna, Florence and Milan. The number of cities whose quality of life was defined as “good” or “acceptable” increased slightly compared to the past year, with 64 of 107 Italian provinces.
Trento is also Italy’s second greenest city
Trento ranked second in the “Urban Ecosystem” report drawn up every year by Legambiente and Ambiente Italia with the aim of establishing a ranking of Italy’s greenest cities. It considers 18 parameters grouped into 5 macro-areas: air, water, waste, mobility and the environment. This year Trento was overtaken by Bolzano, although it ranks first when it comes to urban green areas, with 396 square metres per inhabitant.
The two awards, together with the many success stories of Trentino-based companies, bear witness to the great commitment to the enhancement of the region, which has made Trento and the entire Province the ideal place to live safely and healthily, and to grow one’s business.
