There' s time until Nov. 25 to apply for the UX Challenge 2023, the initiative of the Hub Innovazione Trentino Foundation (HIT) designed to improve the User Experience of companies' services and products through collaboration with students and researchers. It will be held from February 27 to March 3, 2023 in blended and part-time mode, and the final event will take place on March 6 at SOI - School of Innovation of the University of Trento. On that occasion the results of the work of the various teams will be presented to the companies and the best idea will be awarded. The winning team will be receiving a one-year membership for Professionals in the online school Interaction Design Foundation.
UX Challenge: how it works
The UX Challenge is a five-day Design Sprint during which the User Experience of digital products and services presented by industry companies will be analyzed, evaluated and redesigned.
It will include:
- analysis of digital interaction problems
- ideation of solutions using design thinking techniques
- sketching wireframes and mockups of graphical interfaces
- development of interactive prototypes of graphical interfaces on slides or with specialized software
- usability testing with users
Program modalities
Each group of solvers will be assigned a product/service to work on by applying User Research and User Experience Design techniques and performing tests and evaluations with real users selected through Smartcrowds.net.
The teams will be assisted by one or more mentors who will support them in the execution of the activities and in the production of a short final report containing interface design, suggestions and solutions for improving the User Experience of the assigned product.
Enterprises: who can participate?
Companies that have digital products or services (already on the market or in the prototype stage) whose value is greatly influenced by aspects of human-computer interaction, such as:
- mobile applications (smartphones or tablets)
- webapp
- webpages and interactive websites
- desktop applications and software
- digital control interfaces for home automation systems
- infotainment in automotive
- consumer products
- industrial machinery
- other systems

Students: who can participate?
All students of the University of Trento (including PhD students), students of TAG - Trentino Alta formazione Grafica (Istituto Pavoniano Artigianelli per le Arti Grafiche) and alumni of both institutions are eligible to apply, as long as the degree or diploma was obtained within the last 18 months. Candidates will be selected by a committee nominated by HIT.

Goals and benefits of the UX Challenge
The initiative has dissemination, knowledge and training purposes. The main objective is to foster the transfer of technological knowledge and the development of research-enterprise collaborations in an open innovation context.
