Quality of life means many things: psycho-physical and social wellness of the person, environment in which we live, tourism, cultural, museum and sports system, urban environment, as well as landscape components most related to territorial system and mountain.
There are several actors in the world of research and innovation operating in this field. For example, in addition to Fondazione Bruno Kessler and Fondazione Edmund Mach: the Center for Integrative Biology (CIBIO), the Center for Biomedical Technologies (BIOTech), the Center for ComputationaI and Systems Biology (COSBI), the Centro Interdipartimentale Mente e Cervello (Interdepartmental Center for Mind and Brain) - CIMEC, the Institute of Biophysics (IBF) and the Istituto dei materiali per l’elettronica ed il magnetismo (Institute of Materials for Electronics and Magnetism) - IMEM for the studies and technologies of nanomedicine, Create-NET, the Graphitec Foundation, the Agency for Proton Therapy, and EURICSE.
Equally strong is the alignment and involvement of local policies and actors within the main national and European sector initiatives, such as participation in the national Technological Clusters “Technologies for Living Environments” and “Technologies for Smart Communities” and the European Innovation Partnerships “Active and Healthy Aging” and “Smart Cities and Communities”.
The region has identified the following priority areas of intervention:
- Smart cities and communities;
- Conservation and enhancement of the environmental, man-made and urban landscape;
- Tourism, culture, sport and leisure;
- Health, wellness and personal care.
