Nyox: Trentino technology for a greener industry

Trentino confirms itself as a reference for technologies applied to sustainability. In order to offer companies the renewable energy needed to decarbonise production processes and reduce energy costs, Edison Next turned to Polytec (a BM Group company) in Trentino, with which it created the Nyox joint venture.

The new company, based in Borgo Chiese, was set up to create photovoltaic plants, with an ambitious industrial goal: to achieve 500 MW of new energy capacity in five years.

Nyox thus continues a long tradition of Trentino companies that have grown up in the area and have forged a strong bond with it through virtuous interactions. BM Group, in its 30 years of existence, has in fact created a series of important synergies with local authorities and public administrations, which are worth retracing together.

The new plant and the help of Trentino Sviluppo

BM Group is an industrial group based in Borgo Chiese, which combines companies with different specialisations, able to provide innovative solutions in industrial automation, robotics, mechatronics, engineering & procurement contractors and renewable energy investments.

In 2018, in response to a major increase in production and the consequent need to reorganise production processes, it decided to leave its two historical plants and move to a new location. This led to an agreement with the Autonomous Province of Trento and Trentino Sviluppo, which purchased the two old premises for EUR 2.8 million and then made them available to other local productive activities.

Collaboration with ITT Marconi

Business, but not only. In 2019, BM Group donated ABB's KIT School machine to the "G. Marconi" Technological Institute in Rovereto. It is a robotics equipment specifically for the educational world, designed to train tomorrow's technicians through the use of technologies and software applied in industry. The students can try their own hand at exercises and experiments involving mechatronic, electronic and computer technicians, integrating a variety of skills and simulating real work situations in the laboratory.

The research centre in Be Factory

From 2022 in the Be Factory spaces of Progetto Manifattura, the green hub of Trentino Sviluppo, BM Group has set up its new research centre, which deals with the design of self-driving vehicles, software development and vision systems for ferrous scrap sorting and machine learning, serving industry in the steel, paper, pharmaceutical and intra-logistics sectors.

Polytec

Polytec is an Italian company that develops automation and robotics systems applied to critical industrial processes, including steel, ceramics and aluminium, and operates in the renewable energy sector.
