Trentino has established itself at European level as a center of excellence in the field of 3D printing. This commitment is exemplified by the recent approval of a two-year 500,000 Euro project for the continuous training of workers, technicians and engineers involved in production processes in additive manufacturing.

The LILIAM (Lifelong Learning in Additive Manufacturing) project aims to network the knowledge and skills of research institutions, universities and industrial clusters among the most prestigious in Europe, in order to offer those who work in this sector the opportunity to participate in training courses of excellence in Italy and abroad. The project is coordinated by the Milan Polytechnic and involves Trentino, with particular reference to the ProM Facility laboratories, in the fields of additive printing processes and quality control.

The project is a concrete result of the Trentino system becoming a member, in 2017, of the “Vanguard Initiative”, ​​a group of territories engaged in the relaunch of advanced industrial manufacturing in Europe; this was possible thanks to the coordination of HIT-Hub Innovazione Trentino (Trentino Innovation Hub) and the support of the Europe Service and of the Office for relations with the EU of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
