Enhancing female excellence in research in Trentino and breaking down the gender gap. This is the goal of the Women Innovators Call, promoted by VRT Foundation in partnership with Angels4Women.
The initiative was established to facilitate, incentivize and implement the application of technologies, patents, inventions, know-how and skills developed or enhanced in the Autonomous Province of Trento by female researchers, students and entrepreneurs. To be eligible, technology projects must belong to the following areas: Human Health, Energy, Environment, Culture and Education, and Mountain Sports and Tourism.
The Foundation will support 5 applications for this call for proposals for a total amount of 125,000 euros.

The Women for Innovators call for proposals
Women for Innovators is the ninth call for proposals of the VRT Foundation, a Trentino reality that was created to support projects capable of ensuring an evident, measurable and - as far as possible - certain impact on society. On this occasion it collaborates with Angels4women, a Milan-based association of business angels who intend to invest in female startups with high growth potential. The mission of the A4W Investment Club is to bring together members and the best innovative female entrepreneurs, with the aim of making early stage investments.
Beneficiaries and proponents
The beneficiaries of the grant are:
- Public and private research organizations
- University of Trento and related
- Startups or legally established microenterprises with legal or operational headquarters in the Autonomous Province of Trento
- Startups or micro-enterprises that are legally established and will locate their registered or operational headquarters in the Autonomous Province of Trento within 6 months from the date of issuance of the call for proposals
Proponents must be female and belong to one of the following categories:
- University professors and researchers, including those on fixed-term contracts, from the University of Trento and public research organizations or entities in Trentino
- Students, including PhD students, regularly enrolled in AA 22/23 University courses at the University of Trento
- Managing directors of startups and microenterprises
Eligible expenses
Funding from VRT Foundation consists of a non-repayable grant covering total eligible costs, gross of the 4% withholding tax.
Eligible costs are exclusively related to:
- Purchase of Instrumentation and Devices
- Purchase of Consumables
- Purchase of Materials
- Specialist consulting
- Expenses for Localization in Trentino
- Expenses deemed essential by the Grantee-Proponent
- VAT (when it constitutes a cost for the Beneficiary)
