It will be Yore this year to represent Trentino at the 20th PNI (National Innovation Award), the business plan competition in which the Italian startups that have distinguished themselves in the regional acceleration paths associated with PNICube compete.
Yore, which will present its innovative idea on 1st and 2nd December in L'Aquila, gained access to the event in the Life Sciences - Medtech category after successfully competing in the third edition of Trentino Startup Valley, where it was honoured with the special 'Intellectual Property' award. The team of the Startup Area of Trentino Sviluppo, a long-standing member of the PNICube association, will accompany the firm on its trip to Abruzzo and represent the Trentino ecosystem of innovation at the event.
Yore: 100% Made in Trentino
A patch capable of eliminating tattoos quickly, without pain and leaving no scars. This is the simple but ingenious idea with which Yore is making headlines in Italian innovation networks. Born in 2020 within the University of Trento, the startup has already participated in two provincial acceleration programmes (Startup Lab and Trentino Startup Valley) and in the national roadshow BioInItaly, the reference investment forum for innovation in biotechnology and life science in Italy. Participation in PNI 2022 is therefore yet another recognition for Yore, which is once again a representative of Trentino's excellence and of the possibilities that the territory offers in terms of entrepreneurship, development and innovation.

PNI - The National Award for Innovation
The National Innovation Award (PNI - Premio Nazionale per l'Innovazione) is the most important competition for startups in Italy, where the winners of the fourteen Start Cups, i.e. the regional business plan competitions linked to Italian universities and public research organisations associated with PNICube, compete in the finals. The aim of the Award is to support the birth of highly innovative enterprises, promote the economic development of the territories, spread the enterprise culture in the academic sphere and foster the relationship between researchers, the business world and finance.
This year there are 65 startups in the competition, divided as follows:
- Cleantech & Energy: 14 projects
- Information & Communication Technology: 14 projects
- Industrial & Manufacturing: 11 projects
- Life Sciences & MedTech: 24 projects
The big news this year is the establishment of a Special Mention for the GREEN & BLUE Category by the GEDI Group, represented by Riccardo Luna, a journalist who started the magazine that highlights Italian initiatives on the subject of Climate Change.
PNICube
In 2003, the Ministry of Productive Activities financed the IUNet project (managed by the Association of University Incubators - AIU) and the same year the first edition of the National Innovation Award (PNI), a sort of 'champion's cup' of the best business projects born within the university environment, was launched. To build on the experience of IUNet and PNI, in 2004 PNICube was founded, an association that deals with technology transfer policies through the creation of innovative enterprises from the world of academic research.
PNICube in numbers:
- 15 Start Cups active in 2022
- 52 members
